Allen Cohen’s work includes music for piano, voice, chamber ensembles, and orchestra. Currently Associate Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, he has received a Meet the Composer grant and several ASCAP Plus awards. Five of his compositions have been released on commercial compact discs. He is the author of Howard Hanson in Theory and Practice, and co-author (with Steven L. Rosenhaus) of Writing Musical Theater. His doctorate is from the City University of New York, where he studied with Thea Musgrave, Bruce Saylor, and David Del Tredici. He has also performed extensively as conductor and pianist.
