David Chaitkin’s music has been performed by such ensembles as the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, the DaCapo Chamber Players and the St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble. Noted for his lyrical and harmonically adventurous music, he has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Guggenheim Foundation and the New York Foundation for the Arts. His recent commissions include Concerto for Soprano Saxophone and Orchestra by Anders Paulsson and the Stockton (California) Symphony Orchestra; Piano Trio by the Koussevitzky Foundation; and Celebration for winds by the U.S. Marine Band.
