Timothy Cobb, double bass
Outside of his duties as principal bass of the Met Orchestra and Double Bass Faculty Chair at the Juilliard School, Double Bassist Timothy Cobb maintains a busy schedule of chamber collaborations and solo appearances. Mr.Cobb collaborates with Quartets such as the Emerson, Guarneri, Belcea, Leipzing, St.Lawrence and Avalon, as well as artists such as Pincas Zukerman, Yefim Bronfman, James Levine, and Christian Zacharias among many others. Mr.Cobb can be heard on all Met recordings after 1985, and on a new Naxos recording of duo bass music by Giovanni Bottesini, with bassist Thomas Martin of London. Mr.Cobb also serves on the faculties of the Manhattan School of Music, Purchase College-SUNY, and holds the title of Artist in Residence at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.
