John Cage once said, “You can really do an unlimited number of things on the inside of the piano if you have at your disposal an exploded keyboard.” To Eliza Garth, “preparing the piano and using other extended techniques doesn’t just create an exploded piano, it creates an enchanted piano.”
Following on her successful 2009 solo recitals titled “The Enchanted Piano,” this coming season Ms. Garth partners with choreographer James Martin and five dancers in an evening of music and dance titled The Enchanted Piano: Dances for Piano with Electronics, Piano Strings, and Amplified Piano.
