Matt Frey (b. 1980) is a composer of contemporary concert music, both for vocal and instrumental ensembles. Having earned his undergraduate degree at Brooklyn College while studying with noted composers Jason Eckardt and Tania León, Frey has developed a uniquely recognizable sound popular with both audiences and performers alike. Combining inspiration from modern composers with a love for electronic and pop music, he creates richly dramatic soundscapes for acoustic ensembles both small and large. Frey is currently collaborating on projects with local Manhattan and Brooklyn-based new music ensembles while pursuing a graduate degree at New York University.
