Friedrich Heinrich Kern, President

Dr. Friedrich Heinrich Kern serves as Executive Director and President of the League of Composers, one of the United States’ historic organizations dedicated to the advancement of contemporary music. In this leadership capacity, he is responsible for the organization’s artistic programming, commissioning strategy, institutional partnerships, and long-term development initiatives.

As Executive Director, Dr. Kern oversees operational management, strategic planning, fundraising coordination, and the execution of public performances and collaborative projects. He directs programming decisions, works with composers and performers in the presentation of new works, and maintains relationships with national and international partner institutions.

As President of the Board, he provides governance oversight, guides strategic direction, and represents the organization in professional and institutional contexts. His dual leadership role reflects both artistic authority and executive responsibility within the organization.

Through this position, Dr. Kern contributes to the continued presentation and promotion of contemporary composition, fostering collaboration among composers, performers, and cultural institutions in the United States and internationally.
